MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Diesel-electric submarines "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky "and" Volkhov " of the project 636.3 of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) will begin an inter-fleet transition from the Baltic to the place of permanent basing in the coming days. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The inter-fleet transfer of submarines from the Baltic to the Pacific Fleet will begin in the coming days. Their route to the permanent base will pass through the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal, " he said.
TASS has no official confirmation of this information.
Submarines for the Pacific Fleet were built at the Admiralty Shipyards (as part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). This is the first pair of six submarines ordered for the Pacific Fleet of this project.
Earlier, the press service of the Baltic Fleet reported that these submarines worked out the course tasks L-1 and L-2 in the Baltic Sea. According to the existing practice, submariners work out the L-2 task before going on a long hike.
Currently, the inter-fleet transition from the Baltic to the Pacific Fleet is carried out by the Gremyashchy missile corvette of project 22385, built at the Severnaya Verf.
According to open sources, the corvette and two submarines are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles.
A series of submarines for the Pacific Fleet
The submarines of the project 636.3 were developed at the Central Design Bureau of Marine Equipment "Rubin". The contract for the construction of six boats for the Pacific Fleet was signed in September 2016. The first two submarines - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov-were laid down at the Admiralty Shipyards on July 28, 2017.
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was launched on March 28, 2019. After passing the tests on November 25, 2019, the submarine was accepted into the Russian Navy. The submarine "Volkhov" was launched on December 26, 2019, transferred to the fleet on October 24, 2020.
Earlier, Admiralty Shipyards built a series of submarines of projects 636 and 636M for the Chinese Navy, a series of six submarines of project 636.3 for the Black Sea Fleet, six submarines of project 636.1 for the Vietnamese Navy and four submarines of project 636.1 for the Algerian Navy. Russian submarines are carriers of Kalibr-PL cruise missiles, foreign submarines carry the Club-S missile system.
