An F-22 fighter jet from the 199th Squadron of the US Air Force made an emergency landing at the Ionuye International Airport in Hawaii. No one was injured, a video of the operation appeared on the Network.
Ionuye Airport is used by both civil airlines and military pilots from the US Navy base Pearl Harbor. Performing a training flight, the F-22 encountered an emergency situation in the air and was forced to return to the airfield unscheduled.
All four runways of the main airport of Hawaii are equipped with BAK-14 aerial finishers, and the F-22, like all US Air Force fighters, is equipped with a retractable hook for such situations. In normal times, the hook is hidden behind a hinged lid in the fuselage.
The emergency landing of the plane went fine, it stopped on the runway. It took the technicians an hour and a half to return the BAK-14 to working condition, all this time the runway was closed.
"In itself, an emergency landing with an aerial finisher is not uncommon and is regularly practiced by military pilots. But such a video with the participation of the F-22 is not often found, " writes The Drive.
