Dmitry Rogozin, the general director of Roscosmos, expressed the opinion on his Facebook page that cosmonautics is needed not for individuals to escape from the planet, but to make life on Earth better.
"My opinion: cosmonautics is a great achievement of mankind. It should be aimed not at finding the possibility of escape from our planet of separately selected billionaires, but at recreating the conditions for the survival of people on Earth, at preserving our native planet despite its rampant exploitation by barbaric capitalism," he wrote.
The head of Roscosmos is also convinced that the goal of cosmonautics should be to ensure the connectivity of world cultures, the development of communications between continents and peoples, " humanity's understanding of its connectivity and a single destiny."
This is how Rogozin reacted to the opinion of astrophysicist Louis d’Endercourt from France, who noted that the idea of Elon Musk about the imminent colonization of Mars has no scientific basis, since it is completely unsuitable for life.
On October 5, the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft is scheduled, on which actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko will fly to the ISS to shoot the first feature film in space under the working title "Challenge".
