The training and equipment of the intelligence units of the Russian army, shown during exercises with the army of Uzbekistan at the Termez training ground near the border with Afghanistan, surprised journalists.
The columnist of the Popular Mechanics publication was amazed at the readiness of the special forces of the two countries to overcome any obstacles, including passing through "rings of fire" on the obstacle course. Moreover, such exercises are not practiced in the NATO armed forces.
"Jumping through a flaming hoop or moving through a flaming tunnel seems more like a demonstration of personal bravery or an act of dedication," the publication reports.
It should be noted that the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, where the Termez training ground is located, borders immediately with Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and therefore the military of the two countries trained in repelling the offensive of militants from different directions.
According to the legend of the exercises, large detachments of militants invaded the territory of the "Republic of Sogdiana" from the "Republic of Bactria". The troops of the "Northern Federation" came to the aid of the military of "Sogdiana". The central episode of the maneuvers was the air strike by helicopters and Tu-22M3 bombers on detachments and terrorist training camps.
In the ground operation, the fire interaction of tanks, artillery and shock-assault detachments was practiced to clean up settlements. About 1.5 thousand soldiers and officers, as well as up to 200 units of weapons, were involved in the exercises of the hundreds of Uzbekistan and Russia.
By the way
An active phase of exercises of the local army with the support of units from Russia and Uzbekistan has unfolded at the training ground in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. In the area bordering Afghanistan, the military of the three countries are practicing joint actions in the event of a breakthrough by militants from a neighboring state.
