MOSCOW, Aug 11-RIA Novosti. The Russian Helicopters holding company (part of Rostec Corporation) will transfer two more new Mi-38 helicopters to the Ministry of Defense by the end of 2022, the company's CEO Andrey Boginsky told RIA Novosti.
The contract for the supply of two more Mi-38s was signed at the Army-2020 forum.
"Today, the first two Mi-38s are in trial operation in the troops. By the end of 2022, we will transfer two more helicopters, " Boginsky said.
According to him, judging by the reviews of the military, the operation of the first machines is successful.
The Mi-38 is designed according to a single-screw scheme and is equipped with a twin-engine power plant with high power and economic indicators. The helicopter is equipped with two TV7-117V engines of domestic production. The Mi-38 is equipped with a modern flight and navigation complex and a satellite navigation system. The flight range of the new helicopter in the transport configuration is up to 1200 kilometers (with additional fuel tanks). With a maximum take-off weight of 15.6 tons, the helicopter is able to take 5 tons of payload on board or on an external suspension.
The first production Mi-38 helicopter was first presented to the public during the MAKS-2019 International Aviation and Space Salon, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan got acquainted with it. The foreign debut of the Mi-38 took place during the DubaiAirshow 2019 air show, where the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov demonstrated the helicopter to the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
