The Russian Air Force will hold a large-scale exercise in the Western Military District at the end of August with the involvement of more than 450 aircraft and helicopters, said the commander of the Air Force - Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Sergei Dronov.

"At the end of August, an exercise on special types of support for the aerospace Forces is planned at the airfields of the Western Military District, during which the issues of preparation for the implementation of tasks for the purpose of aviation units of all types of aviation, including for the first time long-range and unmanned aircraft, will be worked out. In total, more than 450 aircraft will be involved in the exercise," Dronov said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
According to him, during the exercise, for the first time, military repairs of aviation equipment will be carried out by means of mobile technical and operational units with the involvement of repair crews of industrial enterprises, including on the airfield section of the road.
Dronov said that in 2021, the Air Force will receive more than 60 units of new aviation equipment, including modern multi-purpose Su-30SM, Su-35S, Su-57 and Su-34 front-line bombers, as well as Il-76MD-90A heavy military transport aircraft, Mi-28NM, Ka-52 combat helicopters and Mi-8AMTSh-VN amphibious transport aircraft. In addition, the troops will receive more than 200 modernized aircraft.
