During the Single day of acceptance of military products, the acting general director of the Kalashnikov Concern, Andrey Semenov, reported to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu, that within the framework of a seven-year contract, an early delivery of the next batch of guided aircraft missiles "Vikhr-1"was carried out to the troops.
For his part, the head of the military department instructed to bring the range of these missiles to 10, and then to 12 km.
The updated Whirlwind missile has already been successfully tested on the Ka-52 Alligator combat helicopter.
As part of the improvements carried out, the probability of hitting the target during short-range launches was increased, and stability in flight was increased. All these qualitative changes were achieved without changing the tactical and technical characteristics of the missile. Standard tests confirmed the effectiveness of the improvements.
The guided missile "Whirlwind" is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 10 kilometers, its speed is more than 600 meters per second. The tandem cumulative-warhead of the missile penetrates 750 millimeters of homogeneous armor behind dynamic protection.
