In honor of the anniversary of the only 203rd Guards Aviation regiment of tanker aircraft in the Russian Aerospace Forces, a video with exciting shots of refueling in the air of fighters and bombers of front-line aviation has been published.
During refueling, there is no possibility to polihachit - this operation requires jewelry accuracy and absolute coordination of the actions of two crews: the tanker aircraft and the board receiving fuel from it. Imagine, at an altitude of five kilometers and a speed of 500 km / h, you need to get a refueling rod into a bucket-sized cone dancing in the wind, and then maintain the same speed, course and altitude with the tanker until the end of refueling.
But when it is completed, fighters and bombers can thank the Il-78 crew with dashing "barrels" and turns.
- This is the so-called " kid " waste from the tanker. And what you are seeing now has not been seen by 99 percent of the inhabitants of the planet Earth, and 90 percent of the flight crew. This spectacle is available only to the crews of tankers and front-line aviation, " explained Fighterbomber.
On August 10, the 203rd Aviation Regiment turned 80 years old. Formed at the beginning of the war as a long-range bomber regiment, it began its combat path with the bombing of Berlin, participated in the Kursk and Stalingrad battles (near Kursk, the regiment used the most powerful FAB-5000 bomb in the world at that time), then helped to liberate Leningrad and storm Konigsberg. The Guards fought in Afghanistan and are indispensable participants in air parades in honor of Victory Day. The regiment is based near Ryazan at the Diaghilev air base.
