The unequivocal advantage of the Su-35S, according to American experts, is its enormous combat load and a more flexible set of weapons.
The magazine notes that, although the main purpose of the Su-35 is to gain air superiority, the aircraft can strike ground targets, for this it has a large selection of guided aerial bombs, air-to-surface missiles and cruise missiles.
The Su-35C is a deeply modernized super-maneuverable multifunctional fighter of the "4++" generation.
The F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation multi-purpose fighter designed to combat enemy aircraft, cover troops and rear objects from air strikes, and counter enemy aerial reconnaissance in any conditions.

"The first advantage of the Russian fighter is its maneuverability, which allows the Su-35S to actively evade enemy missiles. In addition, it is its own weapons: a 30-millimeter aviation cannon and six short-range R-74 missiles. You can hang 12 R-77 missiles, which allow you to hit targets outside the visibility zone, that is, they actually act on the principle of "shot and forget", since the infrared homing head operates. In addition, the aircraft has the possibility of using air-to-surface missiles and cruise missiles, in particular, Kalibr missiles. That is, it can be used in an anti-ship version. The range of weapons of the Su-35S significantly exceeds the weapons of both the F-22 and F-35, " Yuri Knutov said.
According to him, there is another distinctive feature of the Russian fighter.
"The Su-35S has a digital information and control system installed, a radar station with a phased antenna array is used, and appropriate equipment is used. All this is closed into a single complex, " the expert added.
He also noted another novelty developed in Russia for fighter jets.
"In Russia, radar-optical phased antenna arrays have been created – these are stations that use completely new principles. In fact, these are photonic locators that see any target at a range of up to 600 kilometers. Moreover, they see it not as a dot on the screen, but as a real silhouette of the aircraft, with the appropriate magnification, you can even see the pilot. When equipping the Su-35 (as well as the Su-57, Su-75) with these new systems, Russia has a huge potential to destroy invisible planes even before they detect our aircraft, " said Yuri Knutov.
