"This year, the tests of the hypersonic missile "Zircon" will be completed, " he said.
The Zircon is the world's first hypersonic cruise missile capable of performing a long aerodynamic flight with maneuvering in dense layers of the atmosphere using its own engine thrust throughout the route.
The maximum speed of the rocket reaches about nine speeds of sound (about 2.65 kilometers per second at an altitude of 20 kilometers, or more than 10 thousand kilometers per hour). The maximum range is stated to be a thousand kilometers.
It is assumed that the project 22350 frigates, the latest 885M Yasen-M multi-purpose submarines, as well as the Admiral Nakhimov missile cruiser under modernization and the Irkutsk submarine, which will be brought to the 949AM level during the modernization, will be armed with Zircons.
