The Arctic group of the Northern Fleet went on a campaign on the seas of the Arctic Ocean. The cruise of ships and support vessels will last about two months, including in the areas of the Northern Sea Route route. It is aimed at ensuring the protection of the interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic.
This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet. At the first stage of the Arctic campaign, the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, the rescue and towing vessel Pamir and the tanker Sergei Osipov will operate.
Before the start of the campaign, the sailors worked out the coherence of joint actions in the Barents Sea, conducted exercises on communications, logistics, and assistance to a ship in distress.
As part of the Northern Fleet detachment, up to eight ships and support vessels, including large landing ships, will operate on the seas of the Arctic Ocean. The campaign is held under the flag of the Deputy commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev.
