Moscow. August 10. INTERFAX - The Russian army will soon receive almost two dozen medium and heavy class attack drones, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko said.
18 reconnaissance and strike drones of medium and heavy classes will enter service before the end of the year, Krivoruchko said on Tuesday during a single day of acceptance of military products.
Earlier, Krivoruchko reported on plans to equip the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2021 with " multifunctional drones of long range and flight duration, which will be armed with both controlled aviation weapons used on operational-tactical aircraft, and specialized ammunition."
As Interfax reported, according to official data, the Russian army is armed with only small reconnaissance drones, for example, "Aileron-3", "Leer", "Orlan-10", etc.
Some samples of attack drones are undergoing trial operation in the military, but mass production has not yet been deployed. In particular, these are the Orion (Pacer ROC) developed by Kronstadt, the Korsar UAV developed by the Rybinsk Design Bureau Luch, and the small-sized kamikaze drones KUB-UAV and the Lancet developed by Kalashnikov.
It was also reported about plans to arm the import-substituted "Outpost-R" with aviation weapons (a licensed copy of the Israeli "Searcher 2"), which has a take-off weight of up to 500 kg and is capable of carrying up to 100 kg of payload.
