The ship grouping of the Northern Fleet carried out a complex of artillery firing at sea target positions in the area of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. She played an episode on the organization of the defense of the island territories of Russia. The command and staff training was led by the commander of the SF, Admiral Hero of Russia Alexander Moiseev.
As part of the practical action plan, a strike group consisting of the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Peter the Great" and the small rocket ship "Rassvet" was deployed in the Barents Sea, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported. In the same area, the crew of the large landing ship "George the Victorious" also performed combat exercises with ship artillery.
After the end of the command and staff training, some of the ships will go to the place of permanent deployment, some will continue their activities in various areas of the World Ocean in accordance with the plans of long-distance trips.
In total, submarines and ships were involved in the exercises - about 30 combat vessels, more than 10 thousand military personnel, more than a hundred units of armored vehicles, up to 15 aircraft.
