Moscow. August 9. INTERFAX-Patrol ships "Dmitry Rogachev" and "Pavel Derzhavin" conducted training artillery firing in the Black Sea, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reported on Monday.
"The crews of the ships successfully hit all surface and air targets, and also conducted shipboard exercises on electronic warfare, installing passive radar interference of the near border," the fleet said.
The artillery firing took place at naval combat training ranges in the Black Sea, the military said.
According to the fleet, at one of the stages of the exercises, "Dmitry Rogachev" and "Pavel Derzhavin" worked out the detection and destruction of low-flying small-sized air targets of a conditional enemy. The role of the air enemy was played by unmanned aerial vehicles of the Black Sea Fleet.
As the press service of the Southern Military District (SE) reported, on August 9, the Russian military began major maneuvers in the south and North Caucasus.
Battalion tactical and special exercises from the period until September 15 will be held at 20 combined-arms training grounds in the Astrakhan and Rostov regions, in the Stavropol and Kuban regions, in Adygea, Dagestan, North Ossetia, Chechnya, Crimea and at Russian military bases in Armenia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
