SEVASTOPOL, August 7. /TASS/. The frigate of the Black Sea Fleet "Admiral Essen" passes the Black Sea Straits in the direction of the Mediterranean Sea. This is stated on Saturday in the press service of the Black Sea Fleet.
"The frigate Admiral Essen of the Black Sea Fleet transits the Black Sea Straits of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles in the direction of the Mediterranean Sea. The crew of the frigate makes a planned transition from the Black Sea to the far sea zone, " the report says. In the Mediterranean Sea, the ship will become part of the forces of the permanent connection of the Navy and will replace the crew of the frigate Admiral Makarov, which has been performing special tasks in the far sea zone since May 2021.
"Admiral Essen" refers to a new series of frigates of the project 11356R/M (the designation 11357 is also used). They are designed to destroy surface ships and vessels, submarines and ground objects of the enemy, for patrol service, patrol, protection of maritime communications.
The frigates carry eight launchers of the Kalibr-NK missile system, are armed with anti-aircraft missile and artillery complexes "Shtil-1", AK-630M, universal artillery installations A-190 of 100 mm caliber, torpedo tubes and the RBU-6000 rocket launcher. The frigate has a runway and a hangar for an anti-submarine helicopter (Ka-27 or Ka-31).
