The Defense Minister stressed that the main task assigned to the military-industrial complex is to increase the production of military and dual-use products
KRASNOYARSK, August 6. /TASS/. The import substitution program will allow to increase the share of Russian products in the domestic market of the defense industry by two and a half times by 2025, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with the staff of Krasmash on Friday.
"It is important not to reproduce old Soviet products, but to establish the production of modern samples that surpass foreign analogues in their characteristics. Much attention is paid to the development of the domestic element base, support for import substitution. The current program will increase the share of domestic products in the domestic market by two and a half times by 2025, " Shoigu said.
The minister called the main task assigned to the defense-industrial complex (MIC) to increase the production of military and dual - use products, noting that this requires great efforts from enterprises, and significant investments and colossal organizational work from the state.
Calling the defense industry the locomotive of the country's economic development, Shoigu noted that new weapons are being delivered to the troops under the state defense order, and the modernization of the existing fleet of military equipment is in full swing.
"We firmly occupy the second place in the world in the export of military products," the minister said.
Thanks to Krasmash
According to him, thanks to such giants as Krasmash, the domestic defense industry has significant innovative and technological potential and rightfully occupies a leading position in the world. "The ballistic missiles produced here for submarines are an integral part of Russia's nuclear shield. A state order is being fulfilled to create the first fifth-generation mine-based strategic missile system in Russia with the Sarmat missile, " Shoigu said.
He believes that the implementation of the current most important projects has become possible thanks to the radical transformations that have taken place in our country. "Until recently, the economy of the Russian Federation was firmly sitting on the "oil and gas needle", and the state's income depended on the conjuncture of the energy market. Almost half of the industrial potential in many sectors of the economy was lost. Things were no better at the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. ..> Russia was an economically backward country torn apart by serious internal contradictions with a low level of welfare of citizens, which gave some of our odious partners a reason to call us a "gas station country," Shoigu said.
Over time, this situation was reversed, according to the minister, the changes affected almost all areas of the state structure.
