The US Air Force has released the reasons for the mysterious fall of the F-22 fighter.
A year after the crash of an F-22 near Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, a possible cause of the disaster has been named. It crashed due to "a maintenance error made after washing the aircraft," the Airforce times quotes a representative of the US Air Force.
The essence of the error is not disclosed. It is only known that during takeoff, the pilot noticed a warning from the flight control system, but still decided to take to the air. Soon after, the pilot began to experience difficulties with control and declared an emergency. He was waiting for a plan to restore the system to be agreed, but in the end he had to eject. The pilot survived with minor injuries. The pilot was assigned to the 43rd Fighter Squadron of the 325th Fighter Wing.
The damage from the plane crash was estimated at $ 201 million. Almost half of the nine major F-22 crashes in fiscal 2020 occurred in the 325th Fighter Wing.
