MOSCOW, Aug 4-RIA Novosti. The newest armored car "Typhoon-airborne" has been accepted for the supply of the airborne forces, the first batch of vehicles will be delivered to the troops in the near future, a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
To date, there are no Typhoon-airborne vehicles in the Airborne Troops.
The source added that " the second batch of Typhoons-airborne troops should be handed over to the customer in 2022."
The acceptance of military equipment for supply assumes that personnel in the relevant specialties are trained for it in the educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense, and military units already have everything necessary for operation — fuel and lubricants, fuel, ammunition, and so on.
"Typhoon-Airborne" is equipped with a KAMAZ-650.10-350 engine with a capacity of 350 horsepower and an automatic transmission. The armored vehicle is capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour, with a power reserve of 1.2 thousand kilometers.
The suspension is made on the basis of hydropneumatic shock absorbers. The armor provides protection from an explosion of six kilograms of TNT under the wheel or four kilograms under the bottom. The car is aerodesanteable.
"Typhoons" for Airborne troops are armed with a remote-controlled module with a 30-millimeter cannon. According to the developers, this gun is capable of hitting targets at ranges that were previously unattainable for weapons of this caliber, and shooting can be carried out in motion at any time of the day and in difficult weather conditions.
