Moscow. August 3. INTERFAX-The Russian diesel-electric submarine Krasnodar, equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles, performed conditional torpedo firing in the Baltic Sea, the press service of the Baltic Fleet (BF) reported on Tuesday.
"The crew of the submarine successfully completed the assigned tasks and conducted conditional firing of torpedo weapons from an underwater position at an underwater target, which was played by the diesel-electric submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky," the report says.
Krasnodar is a Russian diesel-electric missile submarine of the Varshavyanka project 636.3, which is part of the 4th separate submarine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet. The fourth ship in a series of 6 units of the 636.3 Varshavyanka project.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a submarine built for the Pacific Fleet. It was reported that two submarines - the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the Volkhov-are working out tasks in the Baltic before moving to the Pacific Fleet base.
The contract for the construction of this series of submarines was signed in September 2016. The first ship, the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was transferred to the Russian Navy on November 25, 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, joined the fleet on October 24, 2020.
Tactical and technical characteristics of submarines of the project 636.3: autonomous navigation - 45 days, the maximum depth of immersion-300 meters, the range of diving at an economical speed - 400 miles, the range of navigation in the RDP mode with an enhanced fuel reserve at a speed of 7 knots, - 7,500 miles, the number of torpedo tubes-6. The speed of diving - 18 knots. The crew consists of 52 people.
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of the project for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria - they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
