How do they understand in production whether the new cartridges meet the expectations of the developer? A specialist of the Kalashnikov concern, Georgy Gubich, demonstrated this on video with the help of employees of the Barnaul Cartridge Factory.
The operability of the cartridges is first checked on a ballistic installation. The system evaluates the pressure so that the shooting is safe and as effective as possible, measures the bullet speed at a distance of about 10 meters, then the accuracy is recorded on the electronic target. First, the cartridges are fired under normal conditions, then at -50 and +50. In the final, a table with printouts is displayed, where all the parameters of energy, pressure, and speed are marked.
After the ballistic installation, the most interesting thing follows - a check on serial weapons. The video uses carbines "Boar", "Saiga", Yarygin's pistol, Glock 17 and others. After the tests, several days of analysis, calculations and evaluation of the results follow.
