Readiness for strategic maneuvers "West-2021" is being checked"
Moscow. July 30. INTERFAX-Special exercises of military police units "Sentinel-2021" are being held on the territory of the Western Military District, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on Friday.
"Military personnel of the military police of the Far Eastern Federal District and the Northern Fleet are involved in the exercises in full force. And also-partially the bodies and divisions of the Southern and Central military districts. In total, more than 5 thousand servicemen and 600 units of military equipment are involved in the maneuvers," the report says.
During the implementation of tasks to ensure law and order, military discipline and road safety in the areas of responsibility of military commandant's offices and military automobile inspections, as well as tasks to protect objects of the Armed Forces, combat sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed formations, the report says.
The exercises, which are led by the head of the Main Military Police Department of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergey Kuralenko, are conducted in cooperation with the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. A number of issues are being resolved in cooperation with the military prosecutor's office and military investigative bodies," the press release says.
"Conducting special exercises is a control stage of checking readiness for the joint strategic exercises "West-2021"," the ministry reports.
