The Slovak military has received a long-awaited update of its artillery fleet. Yesterday, on July 28, the press service of DMD GROUP reported that the company handed over the first Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns to the army.
The first batch includes eight self-propelled artillery units assembled by Slovak companies and armed with domestic ammunition. It is planned to complete the delivery of all 25 ordered Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns next year.

The contract for the supply of 25 Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns was signed in 2018. The cost of the work is estimated at €175 million — this amount also includes ammunition, spare parts and crew training. The Zuzana 2 self-propelled gun is a further modification of the ShKh vz. 77 Dana self-propelled howitzer, adopted by Czechoslovakia in 1977. In 1998, the Slovak army adopted the Zuzana self-propelled gun, which is a deep modernization of the "Dana" under NATO standards. It is known that Slovakia is armed with 16 Zuzana self-propelled guns.
Zuzana 2 was developed by KONŠTRUKTA-Defense and, like its predecessors, is built on a TATRA 8×8 wheeled chassis. The machine is armed with a 155-mm howitzer 52 caliber long with a maximum firing range of 41 km. The weight of the self-propelled gun is 32 tons, the crew consists of four people. The automatic loading system allows you to make 6 shots per minute or 16 shots in 3 minutes.
