In July 2021, the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant "Kupol" shipped civil products for partners from Bangladesh.
We are talking about three recycling plants from Atomstroyexport, which will be used in the construction of the Ruppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh.
The Ruppur station itself with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built according to a Russian project 160 km from the capital of Bangladesh - the city of Dhaka. The start of operation of the first and second power units of the NPP is planned for 2023 and 2024.
It should be noted that Kupol (part of the Almaz-Antey defense holding and known primarily for its anti-aircraft missile systems of the Tor family) has been producing equipment for nuclear power plants for more than ten years, and this is one of the main directions of its diversification.

Recirculation units are designed to maintain the required air temperature at nuclear power plants. The units are located in a special sealed building where the reactor is located, and are responsible for cooling the air in the reactor systems.
It is reported that the recycling plants went from Izhevsk to the seaport of St. Petersburg, from where they will have a sea route to Bangladesh. The installations are sent to the customer in disassembled form.
This is the first part of a large order that the Izhevsk plant will have to fulfill as soon as possible. By the end of this summer, the plant needs to manufacture and send to the customer seven more installations for the first stage of the Ruppur NPP. And in general, Kupol will make 20 such recycling plants by the end of next year. It should be noted that the production of this equipment is carried out under the general order of the Rosatom State Corporation.
The Izhevsk enterprise reported that the developer of the documentation is the experimental design bureau of mechanical engineering named after I. I. Afrikantov - "Afrikantov OKBM". The Kupol plant creates installations for nuclear power plants in cooperation with other enterprises of Udmurtia that have experience in the machine-building field: for example, the Glazovsky Metalist plant and the Izhevsk Gidrotekhatom company participate in this project.
At the "Dome" they also said that engineers and workers involved in the creation of recycling plants undergo additional training and receive the necessary permits to work with equipment for the nuclear industry.
The high technical level of the work is confirmed by the assessment of the acceptance commission. However, the high qualification of the personnel of the Kupol plant is confirmed by many years of experience in the military-industrial complex of the USSR and Russia.
