During a special exercise, the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation provided the transfer of the group on the Oka River section in the Vladimir region.
For the first time in world practice, pontoon units equipped a double-width floating bridge with a load capacity of 120 tons, which allowed to double the crossing capacity, provided the possibility of moving military and special equipment simultaneously in passing directions and operating the bridge in case of waves up to 3 points.
Also, the units of the engineering troops provided the crossing of the launch battery of the PGRK "Yars" of the Teikovsky missile connection of the RVSN.
In addition, the pontoon units equipped all types of crossings: landing with the use of PTS-2; ferry with the use of PMM-2M and bridge crossings from the PP-2005 pontoon parks. Military police units ensured the safety of bridge crossings for the first time acting on modern boats, motor boats and repelled the attack of deversion groups of a conditional enemy.
The maneuvers are conducted under the leadership of the Chief of the Engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky. More than 8 thousand servicemen take part in them and about 1,500 units of military equipment are involved. The main purpose of the exercise is to check the readiness of engineering troops with the approbation of new ways of performing tasks for their intended purpose, as well as the introduction of the experience gained in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The Defense Ministry recalled that the exercises are held in preparation for the joint strategic exercise "West-2021" and will be held at training grounds in the Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Voronezh and Moscow regions.
