The ground units continue to be reinforced with modern T-80BVM tanks with a gas turbine engine. Yesterday, the press service of the Omsk Transport Engineering Plant announced the dispatch of the first batch of such armored vehicles to the troops this year.
The company noted that in order to monitor the operability of the tank's systems and mechanisms and assess its compliance with the declared technical characteristics, all the necessary checks were carried out in such cases.
This year, the T-80BVM was tested for the first time in the summer. Moreover, the test program included overcoming a water barrier. To do this, an artificial reservoir was built at the factory landfill. The reliability of the tank was confirmed by a march of five thousand kilometers.
"The implementation of the state defense order is a priority for the enterprise. The T-80BVM has proven itself well in recent years. They have an undeniable advantage when operating at low temperatures. This year we have proved that they are combat-ready in any other conditions, " said Igor Lobov, General Director of the Omsk plant.
This tank has been supplied to the Armed Forces since 2019. But, strictly speaking, it can not be called a completely new car. It is known that as a result of the modernization of the basic "eighty", all its main characteristics were increased.
Including firepower, security, mobility and controllability. The range of firing from the tank with various types of ammunition during the day, at night and in conditions of limited visibility has also increased.
The T-80BVM was equipped with a weapon stabilizer and a fully domestic gunner's sight "Sosna-U" with sighting, thermal imaging and rangefinder channels, as well as with a missile control channel.
The 46-ton car was equipped with a 125-mm gun and a modified gas turbine engine GTD-1250. Due to this, in particular, fuel consumption was reduced when the power plant was operating in the parking lot when the fire control system was turned on.
The new ultra-short-wave radio station "Aqueduct" provides the crew with high command controllability. And for greater survivability in combat, the car was equipped with three types of protection - a complex of modular dynamic protection "Relict", anti-cumulative lattice screens and an active protection system "Arena-M".
