This was stated in an interview with the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda" by the head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov (VMedA), Colonel of the medical service Alexey Kulikov.
"It will be a bioengineered cellular product that will combine biology with synthetics. We hope that in the future it will allow us to restore the corresponding epithelial layer of the cornea, " he said.
According to him, with the help of the introduction of this development, it will be possible to avoid scarring and the clouded layer of the cornea will become transparent.
"Eventually, it will be possible to restore vision to patients who were previously hopeless for treatment," Kulikov said.
According to the military medic, as a result of the experiment, it was possible to verify the effectiveness of the" synthetic matrix " - carriers of the cell layer.
