Moscow. July 24. INTERFAX-The Russian Defense Ministry has sent two An-124 Ruslan transport planes to Cuba with more than 88 tons of humanitarian aid, including more than 1 million medical masks, the Russian military department reported on Saturday.
"Two An-124 Ruslan aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry took off from the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow to their destination. Military transport aircraft will deliver food, personal protective equipment and more than 1 million medical masks to Cuba. In total, more than 88 tons, " the report says.
The delivery of aid to Cuba is carried out on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Defense Ministry said.
The An-124 Ruslan is the largest and most cargo-carrying aircraft in the world.
The Cuban authorities identified 7,784 cases of infection with the COVID-19 coronavirus during the day, which became a new anti-record for this country, the EFE news agency reported on July 23.
