US senators decided to increase funding for the US armed forces. Yesterday, July 23, on the website of the Naval Institute of the US Navy, information appeared that the US Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) is increasing funding for the US Department of Defense by $25 billion.
In the 2022 fiscal year (starting on October 1, 2021), $740 billion will be allocated for the needs of the US Department of Defense. Earlier, in the budget request of US President Joseph Biden for the 2022 fiscal year, it was planned to allocate $715 billion to finance the armed forces.

Thus, the US senators intend to close most of the gaps in the financing of the armed forces, as well as to avoid the write-off of still combat-ready equipment. At the same time, the lion's share of the increase will go to the needs of the American fleet. In particular, an additional ship of the Arleigh Burke type will be financed ($1.7 billion), as well as funds will be allocated for the purchase of materials for another destroyer ($270 million). In addition, an additional Spearhead-type expeditionary transport and five F-35C Lighting II carrier-based fighters will be purchased in 2022.
