The upgraded infantry fighting vehicles (BMP-2M) will be involved in the upcoming exercises of the servicemen of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan near the border with Afghanistan. On Thursday, July 22, the press service of the Central Military District (CVO) reports.

"The modernized infantry vehicles will take part in a joint exercise of the military contingents of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the period from August 5 to 10 at the Harb-Maydon training ground in the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan, "the press service told reporters.

In addition, it is said that Il-76 military transport aircraft have already arrived from Russia at the Hissar airfield to deliver modernized infantry fighting vehicles to the 201st Russian military base stationed in Tajikistan.

Earlier, on July 20, it was reported that Russian tankers in Tajikistan marched to the Harb-Maydon training ground bordering Afghanistan as part of the upcoming joint tactical exercise.

On the same day, the press service of the Central Military District said that about 1.5 thousand military personnel from Russia and Uzbekistan will conduct exercises near the border with Afghanistan. It was noted that the maneuvers will be held from July 30 to August 10 in the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

By the end of the summer, a number of military exercises are planned on the border with Afghanistan. The military from the Russian Federation and the republics of Central Asia will work out actions to eliminate gangs. The participation of the air wing of the Russian bases in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is also planned.

Currently, there is an aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan against the background of the withdrawal of the US military contingent from the country. Members of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) were able to capture several settlements, including on the border with Tajikistan.
