In total, about 170 experiments are planned to be carried out on the ISS as part of the long-term program of targeted work
MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. Roscosmos together with Moscow State University will conduct an experiment on the multi-purpose laboratory module (MLM) "Science" on the adaptation of the human vestibular apparatus to being in space. This was announced by the executive director of Roscosmos for advanced programs and science Alexander Bloshenko in an interview with the TV channel "Russia-24".
One one of the experiments, one of the first that we will conduct at the MLM ["Science"] together with the Moscow State University, it is just dedicated to..> human adaptation ><...> [to being in space], there will be a special stimulation of the vestibular apparatus <...><...> with weak currents, " he said.
In total, about 170 experiments are planned to be carried out on the ISS as part of the long-term program of targeted work, Bloshenko noted.
The executive director of Roscosmos for Advanced Programs and science told about the experiment on the production of crystals in space.
"As part of the MLM ["Science"], there will be a special furnace that will prepare high-purity crystals from metal melts in zero gravity, then it will be possible to make modules for <...> electronic equipment, for infrared sensors, for ionizing radiation sensors, " he shared.
Thanks to the MLM "Science", domestic scientists will also be able to study organisms of animal origin in conditions of long-term space flights, Bloshenko stressed.
The module "Science" is intended for the implementation of the Russian program of scientific and applied research and experiments. After the MLM is put into operation, the Russian segment will receive additional volumes for the arrangement of workplaces and cargo storage, the placement of equipment for the regeneration of water and oxygen. With Nauka, Russian cosmonauts should get a second toilet, a cabin for a third crew member, as well as a European ERA manipulator, which will allow them to perform some work without going into outer space. The launch of the MLM is scheduled for July 21, and the docking with the ISS is scheduled for July 29.
