Sergey Kud-Sverchkov believes that cosmonautics will gradually step forward, but due to the hostility of the space environment, these steps are more accurate
ZHUKOVSKY /Moscow region/, July 21. /TASS/. A niche for astronauts will remain even in the case of active development of space tourism. This opinion was expressed by cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021.
"There will always be a niche for astronauts to fly further and higher," said Kud-Sverchkov, commenting on the suborbital flights made by the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos, and the billionaire and founder of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson.
According to the cosmonaut, now aviation has stepped very much forward in terms of accessibility for everyone. He believes that cosmonautics will gradually step forward, but due to the hostility of the space environment, these steps are more accurate. "The availability of space is an obvious thing. It is not yet clear when this will be. We are taking steps, this is natural, " added Kud-Sverchkov.
This year, the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021 will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The air show takes place from July 20 to 25 in Zhukovsky. All activities within the framework of MAKS-2021 are carried out taking into account the requirements of countering the spread of COVID-19.
