The United States called the main obstacles to the development of weapons in Russia. This was written by experts of the American research corporation RAND in their report.
According to them, Russia has partially managed to modernize outdated weapons and create new types of them in order to successfully compete with the United States in this area. The T-14 Armata tank and the Zircon hypersonic missile are given as examples of unique Russian systems. It is also noted that Moscow was able to overcome a number of problems that arose in the 90s, and now the timing of the creation of new weapons in the country is about the same as in the United States.
Nevertheless, according to experts, Russia faces a number of problems in this industry, and its defense enterprises lag behind the American ones. Thus, among the obstacles, experts call relatively low labor productivity, a lack of personnel in the field of R & D and sanctions from Western countries.
Earlier, the official representative of the US Department of Defense, John Kirby , called Russian developments in the field of hypersonic weapons a destabilizing factor. "The new Russian hypersonic systems are a potentially destabilizing factor and pose a noticeable threat, because these systems are compatible with nuclear ones," Kirby explained.
