Ekaterinburg. July 16. INTERFAX-The crews of high-altitude supersonic fighter-interceptors MiG-31BM of the Central Military District (CVO) during a comprehensive training on combat readiness forced a conditional enemy to land a Su-24 in the Perm Region, the press service of the CVO reported on Friday.
"The combat readiness training of aviation involves the duty forces of the aviation division of the Central Military District, the crews of MiG-31BM interceptor fighters and Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft and about 1 thousand military personnel," the report says.
It is noted that during the training, the aviation forces on duty took off from the airfield in the Perm Region at the signal of an "enemy" aircraft approaching the state border, which does not respond to the requests of the identification system. The interceptor crews, having received radar reconnaissance data, flew out to intercept it and, having visually detected it, took it for escort. Then the pilots, acting in pairs, forced the "intruder" to gain altitude to the maximum values. As a result, he ran out of fuel and was forced to land at a given airfield.
Earlier it was reported that on Wednesday, a comprehensive training on the combat readiness of troops started in the Central Military District, more than 10 thousand servicemen are involved in it. The training is being conducted under the leadership of the commander of the district troops, Alexander Lapin.
It will be completed at the end of the week.
The supersonic MiG-31 is designed for long-term patrolling and combating high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, strategic bombers and low-flying targets. The aircraft is capable of simultaneously hitting six and escorting up to ten air targets.
