The new Russian IL-114-300 aircraft was proposed to be used to search for surface and underwater objects. On the air of Sputnik radio, military expert Dmitry Litovkin commented on this idea.

The research and production enterprise "Radar MMC" offers to use the Il-114-300 passenger aircraft as a marine reconnaissance aircraft. According to the company, for this purpose the aircraft must be equipped with the Kasatka-E complex.

"The complex, created on the principle of open architecture and having a modular design, can be installed on the new IL-114-300 and solve various tasks: detection of surface, underwater and aerial objects, monitoring, search and rescue operations, as well as ensuring the security of the maritime economic zone," RIA Novosti reports "Radar mms".

On the air of Sputnik radio, the executive editor of the Independent Military Review, captain of the 3rd rank of the reserve Dmitry Litovkin expressed the opinion that the idea of using the Il-114-300 as a marine scout was expressed in a timely manner, the new aircraft can replace the anti-submarine Il-38.

"The Il-38 aircraft have been in service for almost fifty years. The planes are turboprop, they have all been upgraded. Despite the fact that these machines have a fairly long service life, they are effective for performing such tasks. But they are not eternal. And the Americans have the same story. If we have a new turboprop aircraft that can be converted to perform such tasks, then this is a very good signal, " Dmitry Litovkin believes.

In his opinion, Russia now needs such aircraft.

"The trick of these aircraft is that turboprop, unlike jet aircraft, fly a little slower, they eat less kerosene, but they solve a specific task: they can patrol fairly large water areas during the day. The aircraft has modern electronic equipment – it finds submarines, can direct anti-submarine forces at them. This is effective. And you can not refuse this. Moreover, we are now being actively pressed on all seas, and we really need such aircraft, " the military expert noted.
