On Tuesday, July 13, at a meeting in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the head of the department, Sergei Shoigu, recalled: in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation and the decision of the Security Council, the Ministry of Defense, together with Russian Railways, is engaged in the reconstruction of the Eastern section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline with a total length of 339 km.
"The preparation of the material and technical base has been completed. The grouping of forces and means is deployed in full force. Today it is 1038 people and 693 units of weapons and military equipment. Four technological ferry crossings have been built, through which more than two thousand pieces of equipment have already been transported. Currently, a 14.8 km long strip has been cleared of forest plantations, almost 18 kilometers of temporary highway roads have been filled out," Shoigu said.
Major Generals Andrey Kozlov and Oleg Bragin, senior operational groups in the areas of responsibility of the Eastern and Central Military Districts, reported on the progress of the work at the meeting. According to Kozlov, in accordance with the plan, the reconstruction of the eastern section of the Baikal-Amur mainline from the Om station to the Miroshnichenko junction with a total length of 156 km is continuing. The preparation of the entire material and technical base and the arrangement of troops and students of the Far Eastern State University of Railways has been completed.
"A separate railway mechanization battalion and units of separate tail and track railway battalions with a total number of 560 people and 301 units of equipment have arrived and deployed in the area of performing tasks in full force. One technological ferry crossing has been built and is functioning. The alienation of land plots in the places of placement and execution of works was carried out. Quarries are being developed. Preparatory work is being carried out at the reconstruction facilities. More than 5 km of forest plantations have been cleared. In the right-of-way strip, 4 km of the pritrass highway was filled out, " the general reported.
And his colleague told how they are preparing for the reconstruction of the eastern section of the Baikal-Amur mainline from the Miroshnichenko junction to the Febralsk station with a total length of 183 km.
