MOSCOW, July 13-RIA Novosti. The aircraft engine-demonstrator APD-500, created on the basis of the motor of the car of the government class Aurus, was installed on the Yak-18T aircraft for display at the International Aerospace Salon MAKS-2021, the press service of the developer of this power plant-the Central Institute of Aviation Engine Engineering (CIAM, part of the SIC "Zhukovsky Institute") named after Baranov told RIA Novosti.
The aircraft can be seen at the joint exhibition of enterprises belonging to the SIC "Zhukovsky Institute" at MAKS-2021.
The APD-500 engine demonstrator has been supplemented by CIAM specialists with new components and systems that ensure efficient and safe operation of the engine in aviation mode. The required engine parameters are confirmed by a set of tests on ground and high-altitude stands. "The first flight tests are scheduled for the second half of 2021," the press service noted.
"The domestic piston engine is an opportunity to" reset " the entire small aviation of Russia. It will be able to find the widest application, give an impetus to both remotorization and the creation of new aircraft," said Mikhail Gordin, General Director of CIAM.
