Ekaterinburg. July 13. INTERFAX-Russian servicemen of the air defense division of the 201st military base, armed with S-300 PS systems, repelled a massive missile attack by a simulated enemy during an exercise in Tajikistan, the press service of the Central Military District (CVO) reported on Tuesday.
According to the plan of the exercise, the calculations of the division worked out an algorithm of actions for detecting and tracking air targets of a conditional enemy.
"The servicemen captured, escorted and electronically launched anti-aircraft guided missiles at air targets that imitated modern means of air attack by a simulated enemy from different directions and at different altitudes," the message says.
In addition, the security and defense units worked out the issues of repelling the attack of conditional sabotage and reconnaissance groups on combat positions.
The anti-aircraft missile division, armed with S-300PS systems, took up experimental combat duty in December 2019. The main tasks of the complex are to cover the objects of the Russian connection from the means of air and space attack, as well as air defense of the Central Asian region of collective security, the Central Military District specifies.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. According to the agreement signed in October 2012, the connection will be located in Tajikistan until 2042.
