We are talking about the Almaz-Antey concern and the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation"
MOSCOW, July 12. /TASS/. Two companies from Russia-the Almaz-Antey concern and the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV) - were included in the rating of the 100 largest defense enterprises in the world according to the profile weekly Defense News.
According to the rating published on Monday, the Almaz-Antey concern has moved from the 17th position to the 20th. The company's total revenue from the sale of military products in 2020 amounted to $6.066 billion - 34% less than a year earlier. The total revenue reached $6.6 billion, while the PVN accounted for 92%.
KTRV took the 42nd place - seven positions less compared to the previous rating. The company's revenue from the sale of PVN in 2020 amounted to $2.919 billion - 16% less than in 2019. The total revenue of KTRV for 2020 is 2.979 billion, the share of PVN is 98%.
According to Ivan Konovalov, a military expert, director for development of the Fund for Assistance to Technologies of the XXI Century, the reduction in revenue of the Almaz-Antey concern is primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic, currency exchange rate changes and production diversification. "It is impossible to say that the COVID-19 pandemic did not have any impact on production processes at all. Changes in the exchange rate also played a certain role, which is also a subjective factor, " Konovalov informed.
The expert recalled that the Defense News rating is compiled according to the indicator of PVN sales, and the concern continues the policy of production diversification. "If in the rating for 2020 the share of defense products in the revenue structure was 95%, then this year it is already 92%," he said.
According to Konovalov, the political aspect could also play a role in compiling the rating. "This influence cannot be underestimated. It is extremely likely that political bias played a role, " Konovalov said, noting that Almaz-Antey holds a strong position in the global air defense market.
