The original was taken from a colleague of oleggranovsky in News about the corvettes " Reshef"
The last time about the corvettes "Reshef "("Saar-72" for the Israeli Navy) I wrote in November 2019. Then the company announced that it had signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense for the development and construction of a new generation of rocket ships to replace the Saar-4.5, but apparently it was only a preliminary design. This was confirmed on 07.07.21, when when ordering 4 Shaldag V-IN patrol boats, it was said that this was the first purchase of the Ministry of Defense from Israeli Shipyards after a 15-year break (i.e. since 2006, when a batch of Shaldag III was ordered).
Only 2 days have passed and on 09.07.21 news on the topic appeared on the website "Kalkalist". It says that after more than a year of preliminary design, the Ministry of Defense will soon order a full-scale design from the company. The contract value is several tens of millions of shekels.
So far, we are not talking about an order for the construction of "Reshef", but gradually everything is coming to this. The pace of purchases is not yet clear, it depends on the budget of the Ministry of Defense for the coming years. The "Reshef" will replace 8 missile boats of the class "Nirit" ("Saar-4.5"), which has been in service since the early 80s (the first 2 came into operation in 1981-1982, but in the 90s was upgraded to the level of "Nurit", entered service in 1992; 3 more boats were put in 1997-1998, and the last two in 2002-2003).
