In Ukraine, the sunken boat "Burevestnik", known in Soviet times as the boat of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, was raised from the bottom of the Black Sea in the port of Odessa.
This is reported by REN TV with reference to the press service of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operation was carried out as part of the Sea Breeze military exercises, the ship was lifted from the bottom by divers from Ukraine and the United States. The remains of the sunken ship interfered and created problems for navigation in the harbor. Large-scale military exercises with the participation of NATO Sea Breeze have ended in Ukraine.
They lasted from June 28.
The ship sank in 2016. The other three ships, built according to a similar project, were decommissioned in 1982, 1996 (sank two years later) and 2000, respectively.
The Burevestnik was originally a border patrol ship of the special service. According to the 360 project, four such boats were built in the 1960s. The ships were converted for the travel of VIPs, including the top Soviet leadership. In the 1970s, Leonid Brezhnev liked to spend his holidays on a boat.
