Moscow. July 9. INTERFAX-The unmanned version of the Armata tank has successfully passed test tests, Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec, said on Friday.
"For example, the well-known Armata tank was originally designed as a crew-controlled vehicle. But the level of modern technologies today allows us to turn it into a drone - we conducted the appropriate tests, and they were successful," Artyakov said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
The head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, previously stated that the project of an unmanned Armata will not be serial.
"No, of course not. We are testing unmanned technologies on this machine. It is mainly used as a crew-controlled equipment, "the head of Rostec said"
He also talked about the technologies in the Armata tank. "If we talk about Armata ,then everything will be automated as much as possible. For example, the crew of the "Armata" does not need to aim accurately, it is only necessary to approximately point the gun at the target. The electronics will then do everything by itself - it will accurately determine the distance to the target and point the gun at it. That is, this machine uses elements of artificial intelligence that help the crew to shoot. I repeat, it is enough for the operator to indicate the direction to the goal, then everything is done independently, " Chemezov said.
Uralvagonzavod Concern (UVZ) has developed a heavy tracked Armata platform. On its basis, the T-14 tank, the T-15 infantry fighting vehicle and the T-16 armored repair and evacuation vehicle were created. The equipment on the Armata platform is being tested.
Earlier, Yuri Borisov, being the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation (now Deputy Prime Minister), said that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has a contract for the supply of two battalions of T-14 tanks and a battalion of T-15 BMP for military tests.
The T-14 is the world's only tank of the third post-war generation. According to military experts, "Armata" is a new word in tank construction, it has no analogues in the world. This is a fundamentally new and completely Russian development. The T-14 tower is uninhabited. For the first time, the crew is placed in an armored capsule separated from the ammunition.
