An industrial 3D printer, unique not only for Nizhny Tagil, but also for the entire Ural region, has been launched at the digital technologies section of the Department of the main metallurgist of Uralvagonzavod. Such equipment is used only at a few enterprises in Russia, the press service of Rostec reports. Currently, experimental molds and rods are being created on a 3D printer for casting parts for promising samples of equipment as part of the diversification of production. The device provides high-speed printing of sand molds of various sizes. So, the creation of the product takes only about 16 hours. All printed forms have sufficient strength, high accuracy of execution and quality.
The main advantage of additive technologies is the creation of products of complex shape, which are difficult to repeat by traditional methods. 3D printing is an ideal solution for prototyping and manufacturing small-scale parts. According to Sergey Kosheev, the chief digital technology specialist of the department of the main metallurgist of Uralvagonzavod, thanks to printing on a 3D printer, material resources and time are saved. To create a form on the printer, you do not need to make a snap-in, which can take six months or more. Also, the advantage of printing on a 3D printer is the ability to quickly correct the 3D model. With the help of a 3D printer, the designer actually sends his product to print by pressing one button.
A 3D printer that prints with high-strength ABS plastic has already been successfully used in the digital technology sector. It is used for the production of casting equipment, negatives, molds, devices and visual models made of plastic. To create a full cycle of modern engineering, an optical 3D scanner was purchased.
