Earlier this day, the head of the Crimean Parliament's Committee on People's Diplomacy and interethnic relations, Yuri Hempel, commenting on the words of British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab that the country's Navy ships will continue to enter the "territorial waters of Ukraine", said that in the event of a repeat of the incident with the British destroyer Defender, Russia will be left with no choice but to respond harshly and adequately.
On June 23, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation together with the FSB border service stopped the violation of the Russian state border by the British destroyer Defender. The ship crossed the state border of the Russian Federation and entered the territorial sea near Cape Fiolent for 3 km.
The Russian Defense Ministry regarded the incident as a gross violation of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and called on the British side to conduct a thorough investigation of the actions of the Defender crew.
In turn, the British Defense Ministry said that the destroyer made a peaceful passage through the allegedly territorial waters of Ukraine in accordance with international law.
In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that the incident with the British ship is a classic provocation.
