A new goal has been set - the development of GSU for marine applications, the general designer said
Moscow. July 5. INTERFAX-The first milestone has been passed for the project " Creation of a hybrid power plant (GSU)", the main contractor of which is JSC UEC-Klimov, the press service of the United Engine Corporation reports.
"The first milestone is an important stage of the project for assessing the current situation, approving the set goals, defining new tasks and coordinating the budget. The requirements for the creation of a GSU demonstrator based on the VK-650V have been approved. A new goal has been set - the development of a GSU for marine applications with a capacity of 200-250 kW, " said Vsevolod Eliseev, General designer of UEC-Klimov JSC, whose words are quoted in a message distributed on Monday.
According to the press service, the result of the second control milestone should be the production of a GSU demonstrator for aviation. The main technical solutions will be worked out, an output of about 150 kW will be implemented. In total, four control milestones are planned for the GSU project, the last one will be in 2024, when GSU demonstrators will be tested, draft technical specifications for GSU development work will be formed and proposals for the introduction of products will be prepared.
Earlier it was reported that the potential objects of GSU application in aviation are light multi-purpose helicopters, promising unmanned (optionally manned) aircraft with a take-off weight of two to eight tons, aircraft of local air lines, air taxis, business aviation, vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
"Marine hybrid power plants can be installed on high-speed small vessels of various purposes, including traveling vessels, rescue, pilotage, patrol. In addition, the received scientific and technical reserve will be used to create GSU vessels of a larger dimension, " the report says.
