MOSCOW, July 5-RIA Novosti. The Russian Typhoon-AIRBORNE amphibious armored vehicle, which is being prepared for delivery to the Russian army, has received an upgraded combat module with a 30 mm cannon, which has a unique range of destruction for its class of weapons, Igor Zarakhovich, the chief designer of the company developing this machine, Remdiesel JSC, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The interlocutor of the agency refrained from disclosing the exact characteristics of the gun, but noted that it shoots much further than other weapons of this class, including 2A42 (the maximum range of the hit is 4000 meters).
According to Zarakhovich, the specialists of the enterprise-developer of this module-the Central Research Institute "Burevestnik" actually created it for the" Typhoon-Airborne " again – they had to completely redesign it at least twice, because initially this complex did not meet the technical requirements of the customer.
"In simple terms, I would recommend that the opposite side stay away from this gun, its capabilities can become a big surprise for a potential enemy. Now everything meets the requirements of the tactical and technical task and works perfectly, " Zarakhovich said.
The designer believes that by adopting the Typhoon-Airborne, the Russian army will receive a car with a high level of mine protection, which will make it possible to save the lives of the crew in the event of an explosion or shelling.
Remdiesel produces equipment for use in the Armed Forces, mainly armored vehicles of the Typhoon line of different classes and different wheel formulas. The volume of the state defense order at the enterprise is 93%. On average, the plant produces about 300 armored vehicles a year, in 2020 Remdiesel produced 250 vehicles for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.
