As reported by the ATO web resource.RU, JSC "Ural Civil Aviation Plant" (UZGA) has assembled the first Diamond DA42 aircraft for a full production cycle. This was stated on July 2, 2021 by Evgeny Sergeev, director of the Aircraft division of this plant. For the first time, the company independently produced composite parts of the fuselage of this aircraft on machines supplied by the developer of the machine - the Austrian company Diamond Aircraft. Previously, the licensed assembly of DA42 from imported components was carried out at UZGA.

Sergeev confirmed that on July 1, the first DA42 fuselage produced in Russia with the factory number 043 was sent to the paint shop, from where it will be transferred to the final assembly shop in July, and will be tested at the end of August. It will be transferred to one of the Russian flight schools, where these light twin-engine four-seat turboprop aircraft are used for initial training of cadets.
UZGA has been producing Diamond Aircraft under license since 2013. According to the quality director of Diamond Aircraft Gerald Shperl, during this time the plant has assembled 100 DA42 and 150 single-engine DA40.
Sergeev explained that now UZGA has switched to a full DA42 assembly cycle. This year it is planned to assemble six such machines, and next year to increase the pace of assembly and bring it to 15 aircraft per year by 2027. In addition to the composite workshop, the UZGA has organized the production of wiring harnesses and seats for this model. On the training version of the DA42T aircraft, which is supplied to Russian flight schools, Garmin avionics was replaced by an onboard complex developed by the Ramenskoye PKB.
According to Sergeev, the localization of the power plant has not yet been completed. Currently, the aircraft uses Austrian piston diesel engines Austro Engine AE 300 with a capacity of 168 hp. "A similar Russian engine will be suitable by 2024," he said. This will be an APD-200 engine with a capacity of about 200 hp, which is currently being developed by VIAM, CIAM and other industry institutes.
"They promise to transfer the prototype to our stand in 2023," Evgeny Sergeev said.
In addition to Diamond Aircraft light aircraft, the Aircraft division of UZGA conducts licensed assembly of 19-seat Czech regional L-410 aircraft.
The plant also includes the divisions "Engines" and "Engineering Center". At the end of 2020, UZGA's revenue amounted to 25.2 billion rubles. "We assume that in 2021 the company's revenue will increase to about 30 billion rubles. This growth will be ensured primarily due to the development of the "Aircraft" and "Engineering Center" divisions, " said Sergey Fedorov, Executive Director of UZGA.
