Moscow. July 1. INTERFAX-AVN-The flagship of the Northern Fleet (SF) heavy nuclear missile cruiser (TARKR) "Peter the Great" has left for the Barents Sea, where the crew will conduct several exercises.
"During the launch of the TARKR," Peter the Great "will conduct a shipboard exercise on air defense and will work out the reflection of the means of an air attack of a conditional enemy," the SF said in a statement distributed on Thursday.
In addition, "combat crews of air, surface and sonar lighting posts will work out private training at combat posts to detect and classify targets in various environments," the fleet reports.
According to him, the development of these combat training tasks is planned.
"After completing combat training tasks at sea, the ship will return to the main base of the Northern Fleet - Severomorsk and begin preparing for the Day of the Russian Navy, which this year will be celebrated on July 25," the press release says.
"Peter the Great" is the world's largest operating non-aircraft carrier attack warship with a nuclear power plant. It is designed to defeat large enemy surface targets, provide comprehensive anti-aircraft and anti-submarine defense of warship formations.
