"The forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet have begun monitoring the actions of the Italian Navy's frigate "Virginio Pheasant", which entered the Black Sea on July 1, 2021," the report says.
The day before, Russian Su-30SM fighters were monitoring the movements of the American destroyer USS Ross, which appeared near the Crimea. It was reported that the US Navy ship was located near the Russian territorial waters in the Black Sea and subsequently changed course.
A day earlier, it became known that Russian Su-30 fighters and Su-24 bombers made overflights at a safe distance near the Dutch Navy ship Evertsen, after which the frigate changed course from the Russian border in the Black Sea.
The annual US-Ukrainian naval exercises Sea Breeze-2021 began in the Black Sea on June 28. Their participants will practice combat operations at sea, on land and in the air, including amphibious landings, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft warfare.
On the same day, the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control noted that the scale and aggressiveness of Sea Breeze-2021 in the Black Sea do not contribute to security in the region.
In turn, the Russian Black Sea Fleet said that it controls the actions of NATO ships and other countries that participate in the Sea Breeze military exercises.
On June 26, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that the purpose of the military exercises of Ukraine and NATO is "endless destabilization at the borders of Russia."
Multinational military exercises Sea Breeze have been held on the territory of Ukraine since 1997. The organizers of the exercises are Ukraine and the United States. As part of the exercises, the first of the countries provides military and civilian infrastructure of the Black Sea coast, and the second supports the exercises financially, provides assistance in equipment and equipment.
