Moscow. June 30. INTERFAX-Two strategic nuclear submarines of the Russian Northern Fleet conducted an "underwater duel" during an exercise in the Barents Sea, the press service of the fleet reported on Wednesday.
"The exercise was held in the combat training grounds of the fleet in the Barents Sea in a duel version, when one submarine resists the other and chooses a convenient moment to attack. The submariners operated at a depth of about 100 meters, indicating the use of torpedo weapons without actual firing, " the fleet's press service said in a statement.
The Northern Fleet did not specify the name of the submarines involved in the maneuvers. Strategic submarines-carriers of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
"After the exercise, the crews of both submarines continued to improve their naval training and work out the tasks of the combat training course at sea training grounds," the Northern Fleet said in a statement.
