TSAMTO, June 28. The latest armored vehicles "Ural Tornado-U" were delivered to the mountain compound of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Republic of Tyva.
A batch of seven vehicles with reinforced cabin reservation was received for controlled operation, after which these samples will replenish the fleet of combat vehicles of the compound.
In the near future, military drivers will start running in equipment at the Kara-Haak training ground, where they will practice driving over rough terrain in various weather conditions during combat training classes.
"Tornado-U" with a 6x6 wheel formula was created on the basis of the Ural-6370 platform. Its load capacity is 16 tons, its gross weight is 30 tons. The car is equipped with a diesel inline six-cylinder multi-fuel engine with a capacity of 440 hp. The maximum speed is 100 km/h. The ground clearance is 400 mm. The car is able to overcome a rise up to 60 degrees, a ford with a depth of 1.8 m. The fuel reserve is about 1000 km.
One of the main features of the car is the cab: it is hood-mounted, frame-panel, triple, equipped with ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems. It is possible to install a set of additional protection on the cabin-armor of the fifth protection class, which is able to withstand the impact of armor-piercing bullets of 7.62 mm caliber fired from the AKM from a distance of 5-10 m, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
